Clarifying Shampoo

Sometimes you just can’t seem to shake off that feeling that your hair looks somewhat different. Some people think that this is because of the weather or other external factors but the truth is that most of the time it can be attributed to buildup in the hair. Your hair strands can become heavy, dull, and lifeless when it’s not washed properly. Most people have no idea that their hair has buildup in it because it doesn’t really look like anything on the hair and scalp itself. It’s more what your hair is left looking like in a more general sense. That’s what apple cider vinegar shampoo is all about. There are many different types of clarifying shampoo that you can try but the ones that are the most effective on your hair are the ones that leave your scalp feeling totally fresh and renewed. If you’re not sure which clarifying shampoo is for you then my best advice is to try some different ones until you find something that sticks. washing hair11

You want your hair to be beautifully soft, lightweight, and shiny. The hair that you see in the commercials basically. It might seem like an unattainable goal but the truth is that this is exactly what healthy hair looks like. It looks like something out of a commercial! The point is that healthy hair looks just that – healthy. That’s why you should be using a clarifying shampoo such as apple cider vinegar shampoo at least once every two weeks if not once a week. Apple cider vinegar is the one that I keep mentioning because it has a way of nourishing your hair without stripping it of its essential natural oils. Some clarifying shampoos can remove the buildup in your hair a little too well.

It can leave your hair feeling shiny, but in the stripped sense, not in the good sense. A well-balanced clarifying shampoo is often one that alongside nourishing nutrients, also contains other botanicals and ingredients to moisturize and improve your hair health. You don’t have to use an apple cider vinegar shampoo if you don’t want to, you can also just try an apple cider vinegar rinse. I’m not sure exactly how you make one of those but there are tons of recipes online for you to try. It might be easier and cheaper than investing in an apple cider vinegar shampoo – but make no mistake, it is an investment. Buildup is so overlooked and is something that needs to be taken more seriously in the hair care industry. apple cider vinegar

You need to make sure that you’re using the right products in your hair to allow it to live its best life. If you’re using something too heavy for your strands, it might help them to look good temporarily but it’s not improving your hair health in the long run and that’s what is really important. I think that you should try a clarifying shampoo such as apple cider vinegar shampoo for yourself, and let me know what you think. If your hair doesn’t improve you can call me out on it!

How to Deal With the Stress of the Holidays

While the holidays are generally thought of as a time to relax and unwind, many of us tend to get stressed out over holiday girl moneythis period for a number of reasons. There’s nothing worse than trying to get comfortable and relax after a long year, only to feel pressured all over again. But what tends to cause this pressure over the holiday season? Generally, the number 1 reason people start stressing over the holidays is due to financial reasons. Even if you’re well-off, it’s a period of consolidation and planning for the year ahead which can put anyone through mental loops. If you do plan on doing your finances over the holiday, it’s best for you to remember that you can afford to take it day by day and don’t rush anything! By carefully considering all the variables, you can draw up a budget for the coming year and evaluate the successes or losses you had in the previous year without getting stressed and making rash decisions. Other than dealing with finances, one of the leading causes of stress around the holidays often tends to be hosting people. Whether it’s in-laws, old friends or even neighbors, hosting can be stressful as it requires effort and if you’re a perfectionist, this stress is multiplied. It’s important to remember that the idea of throwing a party of having a dinner is supposed to be fun, first and foremost.

There’s no point getting all stressed out about whether your guests will enjoy the evening, or the food or the decorations etc. and stop yourself from enjoying the evening in the process. While we may feel the need to impress our guests or leave a good impression, you’ll find that the most memorable nights tend to be the most fun. People often tend to spend a small fortune on throwing parties over the holiday period, while the truth is that a good meal, some fine wine or great cocktails and a few small gifts for your attendees can deliver the same sense of style and taste holidays weird conversationthat you would get if you maxed out a credit card or two. Remember, these are likely only going to last a night at most – no need to break the bank or get yourself worked up over something like that. And frankly, if you’re friends judge you because you don’t spend enough money on your Christmas parties, then you should probably consider finding new friends. The happiest Christmas memory I have from my childhood is when we didn’t get much presents because my father recently lost his job and my parents couldn’t afford to go on a spending spree on gifts so we found other ways to celebrate the holiday that was cheap and fun at the same time because we were spending time as a family You don’t need to spend all you money to make a great holiday season, all you need to do is spend a stress free time with your family because that’s what people will remember.

Library Girl

I grew in small towns.  There usually is not much to do in small towns expect for getting in trouble, and I was raised to be a good girl.  So when I was in middle school, what did I do. I went the awesome county library that was in our town. Now, when I say awesome, it was awesome.  I was able to all my time doing everything I wanted – listen to bully2music, watch movies, watch documentaries, type on the typewriter, go on the computer, read magazines and books, write, etc.  It was great. I was so happy and content being there. As life would have it, there are always people who want to make other people feel bad for their happiness – bullies.

So what happened?  I was bullied whenever the bullies would find me there. They always made it a point to come to the library and make my life miserable because they had nothing else to do. I was labeled as the “library girl.”  Whenever they would see me at school, they’d throw things at me and make fun of me. I remember one time they would throw gum in hair on the bus ride to and from school. Gum in one’s hair is not the funniest, and also it’s quite disgusting.  Just thinking about it. Someone put this stuff in the mouth, chewed it, now this stuff is full of their saliva, they roll it up into a small ball, and through it in your hair. Blah! Still to this day, I don’t know how that gum would find its way into my hair and stick, and just make showering miserable for me.  Speaking of stuff in my hair. I remember one time, I was showering and there was a huge fly flying around in the bathroom. I was flying around me and just bothering me like crazy. So I whacked it with my towel. Somehow the fly disappeared and I was happy. I continued to dry myself off with the towel and towel dry my hair.  As I was towel drying my hair, I could hear the fly buzzing around again. library

I stopped and looked around to see if I could find the fly and try to get rid of it once and for all. I looked and it wasn’t to be found. So I continued to towel dry my hair. Same thing, I heard the fly  again so I looked. Nothing. This happened a few more times.  Then at one point, as I was towel drying my hair, I realized that the fly was in the towel. Yuck! I immediately stopped and shook out the towel. Nothing. Then horror came to me. I shook out my hair and right then and there, the fly fell out of my hair. It really grossed me out. Oh my gosh! Anyway, so back to the library. I loved it there.  It was my home away from home. It was cool when it needed to be cool. It was warm in the fall and winter months. There was always something going on to keep me busy. I just so enjoyed it. I learned so much and really could do whatever my nerdy heard desired.

Computers

Computers are great. as a matter of fact, I’m looking at mine right now. Not my personal one, which is actually a social medialaptop, but my computer at work. And truth be told, I have two screens! Which makes it easier to research or send emails where I have to input information onto data sheets. But really, back to the original purpose of this post. Computers are wonderful. They do everything we used to have to do. They can calculate, are great places to play games, they have paint and coloring options to be creative. Programs such as Microsoft Word are excellent for writing documents and keeping everything all in one place. And with handy features like Spellcheck, we don’t even know how to use proper spelling and grammar anymore. May as well teach kids something else, they no longer need these skills.

Excel is also a great option if you need to keep track of a lot of information. You can also add in graphs to demonstrate data. To use some inspiration from How I Met Your Mother, you can even make a pie chart of your favorite bars, or a bar graph of your favorite pies. Or pi. Plus, I haven’t even gotten to the wonders of the Internet. Aka my best friend. The internet has totally changed our lives and revolutionized the way the world works. Gone are the days of using the White Pages to find someone’s number, not knowing what an address looks like, or not knowing anything for that matter. Now we have Yahoo, Bing, Google, Wikipedia, and about a billion other sources of information and data. It’s ridiculously cool if you think about it, although most of us don’t. We simply turn on our computers (as if we ever even turn them off in the first place), click a few buttons, and we’re transported to a completely different world or land. A land of knowledge. A land of power. A land of communication with others halfway across the globe. That’s probably one of the coolest features of the Internet. Constant access to everyone and everything.

The advancements that have stemmed from the advent of computers is what has helped me keep in touch with so many people I normally would no longer be in contact with. For example, Facebook is a great way to stay in touch, social media1see pictures, wish people a happy birthday, etc. and emails! No matter where you are in the world, if you have an internet connection you can shoot someone an email and tell them whatever you need to say. They can check it at their convenience and respond when necessary. No more carrier pigeons, email eliminated the need for them. They might still be good as pets, but you don’t have to rely on them anymore. just shoot someone an email about an important meeting, a recipe you’ve been wanting to share, or even an event invitation.

Computers are sick mostly because my blog is on them

Quotes From The Greats

** FILE ** In this Sept. 9, 1954 file photo, Marilyn Monroe poses over the updraft of a New York subway grating while in character for the filming of "The Seven Year Itch" in New York.(AP Photo/Matty Zimmerman, file)

I wanted to share some interesting quotes. Some of them I really like. For example:

Loneliness is my least favorite thing about life. The thing that I’m most worried about is just being alone without anybody to care for or someone who will care for me. Anne Hathaway
Sometimes we should express our gratitude for the small and simple things like the scent of the
rain, the taste of your favorite food, or the sound of a loved one’s voice. Joseph B.
When people ask me about what I learned from martial arts, I don’t talk about favorite punches or kicks, or about fights won or lost. I talk about learning self-discipline, about ethics and manners and benevolence and fairness. Jonathan Maberry “I’m selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can’t handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don’t deserve me at my best.”
Marilyn Monroe

“Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I’m not sure about the
universe.”
Albert Einstein

My absolute favorite piece though is the Marianne Williamson poem and I guess you could say
prayer to some degree. It’s called Our Deepest Fear. Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you Einstein_1921_by_F_Schmutzer_-_restorationnot to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
This is so touching. It comes from her book A Return to love. It is said that Nelson Mandela read this book in prison and that was a part of his willingness to be able to forgive his captors upon his release. That says a lot about the man, it really does. To be able to forgive the way he did.

Essential Oils

essential oils 3Any company can claim their product is ‘therapeutic grade’ essential oil. It usually doesn’t mean anything. Essential oil is essential oil, and that means that if it is pure, it is pure. If you begin to dilute it, or mix other oil in there, then I suppose the formula could change. But as a general rule, if what you see in a vial is pure essential oil – there is no grade A, B, or C. Or maybe it exists, but within that specific company’s line of products, and not a recognized kind of ranking.

Whether or not you buy into the essential oil thing, that’s your business. But keep in mind that essential oils have been around since the beginning of mankind. Just because certain companies are trying to make their paper on the backs of people who are confused about that fact – that is a different story. The thing is this: essential oils have always been around.

I don’t feel we have discovered something totally new here. BUT, what science and modern medicine (and cosmetics) did discover, is a way to make it viable in many different products. Essential oils can be volatile, and it is imperative to treat them right.

Using a tea tree oil shampoo product on your scalp helps it find balance. You need to use the same amounts, and aim to use the oil on the same days. You scalp and hair will get used to your cycle, and adapt accordingly. The body is a highly adaptable thing, altogether. It can get used to many things and conditions, circumstances. And when it comes to hair care, what matters more than anything is that you strive to have a pattern, a cycle, a rhythm. That way, your body – more specifically your scalp – can produce its natural oil (known as sebum) and contribute to the overall health and wellness of the scalp and the hair.

But, if you mess it up, and are inconsistent about your washing, conditioning, etc., your hair and scalp may be more susceptible to misbehaving, to producing sebum erratically (so to speak), and to cause your scalp and hair to be more sensitive, more easily irritated, and generally lesessential oils 4s of a pal.

It is a sensitive organ, the scalp. It has moods, it changes with the weather (with some people, anyway), and it reacts to essential oils in a big way. Depends on the oil, really, but once you find a formula which works for you, there is a good chance your scalp and hair will dig it.

Using essential oils in your day-to-day cosmetics, in your go-to beauty regimen, it affects the way you treat yourself. I mean, sure, you could get all industrial products. That’s cool. But if you have the time, I implore you to create your own products. You can find a way, providing you have some time to experiment. Most people don’t, so I would suggest finding a good shampoo which doesn’t burden you with any drama. As a general rule of thumb, I don’t shampoo and condition more than once in a few weeks.

Review Of Hairfinity

If you are as obsessed with your hair as I am you have probably heard about Hairfinity, which will allegedly give you the most luscious locks of your life. Hairfinity reviews seem to agree with this. Reviewer’s claim they have seen a major difference in their hair. Pictures posted by happy users are to die for, I literally want to touch their luscious rich locks. What really imprhairfinityesses me is their philosophy. Promoting healthy strong hair as the basis for truly beautiful res ults. Combining science and beauty Hairfinity is the total hair care package working from the inside out. Hairfinity use nourishes your hair with healthy hair vitamins and booster supplements, helping to strengthen your hair from the inside. This leaves you with healthy, irresistible hair that you and others will struggle to keep your hands off of.

Regardless of if you use the brand name or not, I think we can all learn something from Hairfinity. They say beauty comes from within and for Hairfinity and similar products, this is true. By making us healthier from the inside they allow us to shine from the inside.

As a naturalist, I believe in a toxins free approach to life, health, and beauty. The less intervention the better. All those “miracle” creams, make-ups etc are produced on labs and filled with dangerous chemical fillers and processed beyond the point of recognition. You find the same thing with food. Everything from milk and honey to water and breakfast cereals is filled with processed junk that is not doing our bodies any good. Is it any wonder that we are experiencing an obesity epidemic in the U.S.? It is high time that we left these chemical processes solutions behind and focused instead on improving our health from within. By strengthening our bodies we allow them to achieve their greatest potential and become their most beautiful and attractive selves.

How can you achieve this goal? I’m not going to lie it is tough, have you ever tried shopping for completely sugar-free ( don’t be fooled, dietary sweeteners are often worse thairfinity 2han sugar itself) items in your local supermarket? Well, I have and I can tell you from first-hand experience it is no walk in the park. If I had to guess I would say it cut out 99% of the products sold in the store, that is a scary thought. This stuff is hiding everywhere you expect to be and everywhere you don’t expect it to be, canned green beans seem like a good idea to you? Think again. Okay so my point here is not to demonize sugar (though the stuff is pretty terrible for you). I personally enjoy a small spoonful in my morning tea from time to time and there are certain candies that I will always rely on top get me through a rough day. What I am trying to say is, we live in a world of artificial and unhealthy products from foods to hair care it is important to check before usage and try your best to avoid the artificial garbage! Instead, focus on stretching your body and achieving natural beauty from within using natural vitamins and minerals to achieve your greatest self.

Old Spice Bearglove

old spice 2 Old spice is a wonderful name. On the one hand you’ve got the world ‘old’, which can mean tradition, classic, and time-tested. On the other hand, you’ve got ‘spice’ signifying novelty and freshness, with a kind of sexy touch. This is why it is a wonderful name for a company like that. It really is a trusted brand which manages to keep itself fresh, and that is a great feat.

This is a line of grooming and cosmetics meant specifically for men, and their commercials and slogans have always been geared towards them. It is nice to see a brand like that still going strong after all these years. The Bearglove series of products includes deodorant, body wash, cologne, and it is certainly one of the more popular brands within the company.

The guys over at Maple Holistics reviewed the Old Spice hairwax concoction – among other things – and it passed with flying colors. I mean, every product does have some disadvantages. It comes with the territory, since there is nothing perfect in this world. But every now and then you get a product, or at times an entire line, which is significantly better than many of its competitors, and which blows them right out of the water. This is how I think of Old Spice products, but I am cold spice 1ompletely biased, having used their stuff (albeit not exclusively) for such a long time. There was a time when I was wearing Brut. Dear lord, that’s throws me back to the nineties like it’s nobody’s business. Dang.

So, Old Spice gets compared to lots of other male-oriented cosmetics brands, such as Axe. Incidentally, I only recently found out that Axe is the American name for what is called Lynx all around the world. Or something close to that. Just goes to shows once again, how we Americans are different from the rest of the world, for better or worse.

The battle over male cosmetics is far from over. Companies keep coming up with new ideas, new pitches, new products, new angles, new models, new scents and flavors. It is a never ending thing, and you know what? In spite of all of the pressure which is on males to groom themselves and look good – something I don’t always agree with 100% – I am glad that there are companies like Old Spice which are taking male grooming and keeping it on such a high level. And you know what else? Some of those products may cost a bit mold spice 4ore, but they smell amazing. And if you don’t overdo it (and you never should), those products like soaps, washes, colognes, and deodorants can last you a long while.

Don’t let too many of your friends mooch off of those. In fact, keep a spare bottle of cologne – a cheaper kind – so when your dumbass roommate runs out, you can save the day, and be a good wingman. Take care and groom yourself, guys, but don’t be afraid to go back to beast mode every now and then.

Check That Grammar

owlUsing a grammar checker is becoming a must for some people, especially those who are studying English as a second language. We live in a world full of grammar checkers, auto-corrector, and other digital helpers. The question is, are they actually helping or are they making people ignorant of the language which they are dependent on.

Let’s take a different case. Let’s take navigating. It used to be that if you didn’t know how to read a map, you would be lost. Period. If you were in a situation where it was required of you to read a map, plan a route, and follow it – you would be up the creek with no paddle. Nowadays, people can afford to not know the first thing about maps and navigation, thanks to GPS and related navigation apps.

So, on the one hand, it saves people the trouble. On the other hand, it means that these people are lacking something that would otherwise be pretty darn fundamental. Where do you draw the line? What is truly outdated and unnecessary, and what is still necessary but grossly overlooked? How do you differentiate? What values do you place over others?

Well, when it comes to language, I take issue. Not knowing how to navigate – okay. Not knowing things which were once common knowledge or necessary – okay. But not knowing how to speak, read, and write properly? There is no excuse for that.

These days, there are spelling and grammar checkers as reviewed on Edumuch.com which are taking that into consideration, and are trying to improve on a person’s language skills, rather than simply provide that person with the proper way to spell, phrase, punctuate, style, and contextualize.

Software which gives you the option of not knowing proper spelling and grammar, but which strives to improve on that – that is the kind of grammar checking which we could all use.

Some are saying that language, and the English language in particular, is in trouble. When you put so much power into the hands of machines and digital helpers… well, it has the potential to seriously backfire. Only through proper education from early on can we make sure that the next generation isn’t overrun with individuals who do not know how to speak, spell, or read correctly. People who rely on machines and algorithms to provide them with vocabulary and proper phrasing.

1aadf42668b0575db696b4acf6ad1771

Slang, vernacular, and lingo all have their place, but we need to make sure that these do not replace the English which we know. The English language has gone through so many changes and several significant revolutions in its time. Are we on the brink of another? A digital linguistic revolution? Time will tell. Some are already eulogizing the written word and the English language, but I feel we should not be so pessimistic. There will always be people who care enough about language, and who will do their best to ensure that the next generation knows their roots.

Keep reading, keep writing, and keep asking the right questions! And, if you do get a grammar checker, get one which also challenges you, and which helps you become a better writer.

Diary of a Military Man

I am a fan of hot topics. Those things everyone is talking about, one of which being guns. The topic of guns is near and dear to me due to the fact that I am third generation Marine and have served in both Iraq and Afghanistan. I own several firearms and all sorts of ammo. Growing up with a military Dad meant that I had my hands on guns ever since I was very little. I started out on air-soft pistols with target practice in the backyard. I would try to shoot the occasional squirrel but my Mom didn’t like that very much (she’s an animal lover). As I got older my tastes changed and I began to practice shooting with large shotguns like the Mossberg 500 and things of the like.

For me, the feeling of shooting a shotgun is like nothing else. It’s sheer power and force gives me a sense of strength nothing else can give me. Due to my Mom’s influence I don’t go hunting but I will go skeet shooting every now and again. My shotgun is mainly for self-defense. I don’t ever want to be stuck waiting for help if a dangerous situation occurs. I have always felt it is best to get things done with my own two hands. Thankfully I have never had to pull that trigger in self-defense. I spend a whole lot of time at the range and my accuracy with the weapon attests to that. The range is the perfect place to practice with your weapon.open carry

I live in an open carry state and I believe we should exercise our constitutional rights. Not in a disrespectful, but in a way that keeps the ideals of our Founding Fathers alive. I am full aware that the rifles of the past were not like the fire power we have today. They had muskets that took a lot of time to reload. Today we have such advanced firearms that we end up complaining of the seconds it takes to reload. Although seconds can be the difference of life and death I still think it is important for people to keep things in perspective. It’s the only way we can solve the problems we are currently facing.

I have some personal favorites and I’m always going to gun shows to see if I can find that gem. The SIG Sauers are favorites of mine. The P226 and P228 both pack power in an extremely well built steel case. Gunivore.com has some reviews about the P226 and P228 if you want more details on the two.  I don’t always carry them around because they are heavy and expensive. For conceal to carry, the family of Glock pistols is what I lean towards. They are also very well built and very lightweight. This is due to their polymer construction. I have owned these guns for years and have put them through a lot of abuse nevertheless they always seem to work after the fact. Easy to clean and deadly accurate. If you are looking into a good starter pistol this may be where you should start.conceal and carrry
